Laser hair removal
Using the latest crystal freeze technology, the treatment is a fastest & safest method of removing unwanted and ingrown hairs long term and is ideal for both women and men of all skin types.
To achieve long lasting or permanent hair reduction, it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle from which the hairs grow. Controlled pulses of light penetrate the upper skin layer and are absorbed by one of the body’s own natural chemicals – melanin – in the hair contained in the follicle.
Melanin converts the light energy into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. The majority of our hair is in the resting phase which explains why more than one treatment is necessary. This technique is called “Selective Photothermolysis”.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
Hair grows in three different cycles and the Permanent Hair Reduction can only successfully treat hair during its growth stage. Therefore, it is often necessary, to undergo a course 6 - 10 treatments ensuring that you leave at least 8 weeks between each session initially.
Hair growth is cyclical, as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Only follicles in the growth phase contain hair and are destroyed by the heat. Resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can be effectively destroyed by the diode laser. This is why it is necessary to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been through the growth phase. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hair density, thickness, ethnic origin, hormonal status and age. WHAT SKIN TYPES CAN BE TREATED WITH LASER?
All skin types can be treated safely& effectively with the diode laser.
IS IT PERMANENT?
Yes. Any hair follicle that is successfully destroyed, will no longer have the ability to grow hair, however everyone has dormant hair follicles, which can be stimulated at any stage in life. This means new hair can grow, so it is recommended to have a top up session yearly, to keep any newly stimulated follicles at bay.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Skin type is a fundamental effecting factor in this treatment as due to the high level of pigment in the skin. Pain tolerance is very individual from person to person. Most people describe the sensation as similar to tiny pin pricks.
IS LASER EFFECTIVE ON ALL HAIR COLOURS?
Unfortunately, laser is only effective on brown to dark hair. It is not effective on blonde or grey hair, this is due to the lack of pigment present, which is what laser is attracted to.
Tattoo removal
The ND:YAG Q-switch laser can safely and effectively remove tattoos, permanent make up, and skin pigmentation such as age spots, sunspots and birthmarks. Tattoo ink particles are too large for the body’s immune system to remove naturally because when tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin (dermis) it becomes locked away by a wall of collagen fibres. Q-switched lasers produce very short bursts of high energy laser light. The light is absorbed by the large ink particles, generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into minute particles which the body is able to remove. Because the tattoo ink selectively absorbs the laser energy, the surrounding skin doesn’t overheat and there is no lasting damage.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DOES IT TAKE TO REMOVE A TATTOO?
The number of sessions needed, does vary by person and there are several factors which affect how many sessions are needed, such as colour, age of tattoo & tattoo site. You can expect to see a reduction after the first treatment, however it generally takes 6 – 8 sessions, with intervals of a minimum of 8 weeks. In some clients, more sessions may be necessary for complete removal.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The level of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoos, the amount of treatment required and your own pain threshold. Some clients would describe it as no more than uncomfortable, where others will describe it as an elastic band flicked against the skin. We can offer advice on pain relief, which will be given during your consultation.
WHAT COLOUR TATTOOS CAN WE REMOVE?
In principle the laser can remove all kind of tattoos. Since all tattoos are not the same in terms of colour, depth of ink deposition as well as their chemical composition some may respond differently. Black, red dark orange and dark blue tattoos will typically respond better to treatment with laser. However pastel, neon and white colours are harder to remove and may require more sessions.
DOES IT CAUSE SCARRING?
Although there is a risk of scarring with any laser, in most cases, scarring is not a significant risk for tattoo removal with the ND:YAG laser. Tattoo removal has become associated with scarring because the older generation of lasers used for tattoo removal were very aggressive and carried a very high risk of scarring. The ND:YAG laser does not heat the surrounding skin significantly and the risk of scarring is minimal.
Carbon peel
The Carbon Laser Peel, also known as the Hollywood Facial, combines a carbon lotion with laser techniques to reduce the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and textural irregularities. Oil production is diminished, freeing the skin from acne and reducing pore size. It also treats melasma, a severe form of pigmentation.
HOW IT WORKS
A carbon lotion is applied to the skin which deeply penetrates the pores. Once the lotion is s applied, the ND:YAG Q-Switch laser is passed over the skin, lightly ablating the old surface layer of the skin and heating the layers below. While laser energy breaks up pigment and targets acne, heat stimulates the production of collagen.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
We recommend having a course of 4 treatments on a monthly basis to keep the skin optimized and less congested. Depending on your skin type and concerns, we may recommend two a month. However, you can see great results from just one treatment.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The majority of patients do not report any pain and the treatment does not require anaesthesia. A warm sensation may be felt across the treated area, but this should not cause discomfort.
WHEN WILL YOU SEE RESULTS?
You will see results immediately and continue to develop over time. As collagen is regenerated, fine lines and wrinkles continue to reduce in appearance. Bacteria which causes acne is destroyed preventing future breakouts. Results improve with each session.
